Thanks to Robert for the heads up.

As always take this with a grain of salt

Today the Daily Mirror have reported that ALL 11 Doctor’s will make an appearance in the 50th Anniversary episode. The first 3 doctors will make an appearance via imagery or CGi and the remaining will appear in cameo roles. They are also predicting a regeneration of Matt Smith to introduce the new 12th Doctor.

Personally I think it would be cool to see him regenerate into previous versions of himself to help him remember previous enemies (for example he could not remember the great intelligence in the Xmas episode). How would you like them to appear? Sound off below

After seeing Jeff Bridges recreated with CGI in Tron: Legacy, I have wondered why the same couldn’t be done for the 50th special, having all 11 Doctors in it

    • Jimbotfu

      Because of the cost.

From what I’ve heard, the BBC is throwing all their weight behind the 50th special, so I don’t expect it will get the usual budget….

Given that Moffat has confirmed Matt Smith will be back for the Christmas Special why would the Eleventh Doctor be regenerating in this episode?
I get the feeling this is just a tabloid trying to get more attention.

I thought we had confirmation from the BBC that all 11 doctors were going to be in it, but also confirmation from interviews with various staff (including Matt) that he would *not* be regenerating.

I’ve seen promotional material floating around the official Doctor Who tumblr for the whole “11 Doctors” thing.

I highly doubt we’ll be going to a 12th doctor just yet. Though if the fields of Trenzalore show up then it will happen
He doesn’t remember the Great Intelligence because it happened hundreds upon hundreds of years ago (for the Doctor)

I can’t see them doing 11 doctors in one hour – too little time, BBC should have devoted a full series to it. Don’t need CGI for Docs 4-10, have a parallel universe crash story – what if, what happened to cause them to regenerate didn’t and that incarnation grew old (as the actors did!)- for that matter, you could have some interesting companions, new and old (those that died, didn’t – grown up Adric with Doc5?). Be great to see all tardis’s too. Full season story arc, give each an episode (with Matt doc in the shadows (series 6 style) with the story arc coming together for a two part finale. 1 hour though? first and last doctor only has a nice symmetry to it for an anniversary. David Bradley as 1.

Big Finish is doing an 8 Doctors story with everybody prior to Eccleston, with deceased Doctors represented through the use of archive clips, so that may possibly be confusing rumor sources; something to consider, anyway. And if they’re regenerating the Doctor, then they’ve been vastly more successful at hiding the casting calls than ever before, which seems unlikely.

Still, we can hope for an 11 Doctor story! ;-) It would be lovely.

I think it would be cool if they invent a room in the Tardis where the Dr could talk to his former selves . This way anytime a story line needs or they want a touch of reminiscing they could simply just have any Dr they want do a cameo.

I know there have been episodes where the Doctor has teamed up with previous incarnations of himself, however, even though it is almost an impossibility, it would be neat to see the Doctor team up with future incarnations of himself… Let’s have the 11th Doctor with the 23rd Doctor, the 35th Doctor and the 58th Doctor! :)

with the anniversary being the 23rd of November and christmas being 3 weeks later what would be great would be a two parter

i like the idea of him becoming destablised and morphing between Doctors. id also like to see him go back to when Paul Mcgann regenerates (yer i know theres a Audio Book but we’d all like to see it)

theres no reason that the 12th Doctor couldnt come from the future to help.

      • philmcknight

That’s how they had the 4th Doctor regenerate to the 5th.
