"The Snowmen" returning enemy? Multiple Clara's explained?

I can not 100% confirm this and have read rumours, speculation and spoilers from a number of sites. I have held back on posting this information here until I was pretty much certain that it is accurate. Now these spoilers can be false but we will know tomorrow.

It is rumoured (and near enough confirmed) that a returning enemy of the Doctor will be "The Great Intelligence". In a number of trailers, promotional videos and even a promo picture removed by the BBC (See Below) we keep seeing the initial GI.

Who is the great Intelligence?

The great intelligence is an enemy of the doctor from the second Doctor era. He is first seen in "the abominable snowmen". He controls the Yeti's that we had rumoured would be returning in 2011 (maybe the snowmen were what the rumours were meaning). The great intellegence has no physical body and possess bodies or entities in order to interact with the world around it.

Could sir ian McKellen who is voicing the snowmen actually be the voice of the great intelligence? We have seen in promotional photos Richard E grant's Dr Simeon unconcious (maybe even dead) on the ground next to the giant snow globe the Doctor is talking to. Maybe the great intelligence takes over Richard E Grant's body, especially with Richard E grant returning in the 7b finale.

Possible links to Clara/Oswin?

Now this is purely speculation and theory based on my part. As we know from previous spoilers and set reports it is looking likely Jenna-Louise Coleman is playing 3 different characters. Oswin, Clara and we are assuming again a present day version of Clara. Each of which have no recollection of the previous. The Great intellegence may have a part to play in all of these versions of Clara.

The Great Intelligence travels usinh astral projection. Astral Projection is when the soul leaves the body and travels to somewhere else. What if somehow this is the cause of multiple Clara's through time. When she dies her soul travels to another body/host. We know from set pics reported by RyanFarrr here the Doctor says he is off to find Clara. Could this be a reference to her spirit. We also know from set pictures and reports from the first episode of 7b here that she is unaware to who the Doctor is but the Doctor references Clara from the Christmas special.

Doctor Who Christmas Special 2012

Plot Details:

Further indications seem to be that this may be more of a "Great Intelligence" story (with the snowmen acting more like Yeti's) intertwined with the Doctor, who's retired, and being kind of a Scrooge. See hereand here.

The Doctor has retired from "saving the Universe" (see above clips) and is "misery" mode, according to Steven Moffat.

The episode takes place in the 1890's, during Victorian times.

Apparently the Doctor changes his outfits in this episode a few times. At one point he is wearing a Sherlock Holmes-type outfit, complete with deer-stalker hat!

According to this poster , the Snowmen aren't actually made of regular snow. They're made of alien snow. Living snow with it's own consciousness, and very, very hungry. They're flesh eating snowmen, according to this poster.

Vastra (the Silurian lizard detective lady); her companion and lover Jenny and their Sontaran butler Strax, reprise their role from a previous episode "A Good Man Goes to War" in Series 6. Strax was assumed dead in that episode, so it will be interesting to find out how he survived. Or not. They try hard to get the Doctor out of his "slump;" somewhat unsuccessfully, looks like.

This episode is where the Doctor's new companion, Clara, is introduced. Clara is a governess in Victorian times (and an au-pair in modern times), says this poster. She sleeps in the attic room of the house she works at, says this poster.

The Doctor is quite taken with Clara, according to the Radio Times; at one point in the story, Clara is kissing the Doctor,Radio Times; and later the Doctor gives Clara a key to the TARDIS.

Richard E. Grant plays the bad guy in the story, the sinister Dr. Simeon: http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage...o-special.html

The Daily Mail mentions a creature called a Memory Worm is in this episode. Keeping in mind that it's the Daily Mail, could this be the creature that Dr. Simeon is speaking to that you see for a second or two in the trailer? Sounds possible.

Clara and Oswin are not the same person, but there probably is some connection between the two characters. There has been a lot of speculating about the connection, which will be revealed in a later episode next year.

Clara seems to have died in this episode; at least that is what this poster says. Is she replacing Rory and the companion who dies?

There is a funeral for Clara at some point; the Doctor goes off in the TARDIS to save her, says this poster.

People watching the filming in Cardiff say this is what happens: don't read this unless you want to be totally spoiled.

FILMING STUFF

The Doctor pilots a plane? This poster thinks so.

The Daily Mail has revealing photos of the Doctor and companions costumes. The Doctor looks dapper in his new outfit for this episode.

Moffat tells The Daily Mail that the Christmas story has some relationship to a never filmed episode of Doctor Who that was originally conceived years ago by the late great Douglas Adams. The BBC bosses decided the story of the Doctor deciding to quit wasn't something they wanted to air. Apparently this story incorporates this idea, along with others. It was originally thought that the episode is also loosely based on a children's story by Raymond Briggs called The Snowman. Moffat steals from the best.

The 2013 Spoiler Summary Thread with the episodes of series 7B, will be up next; coming soon.

New trailer released for XMAS special with new scenes

The BBC have released another trailer for the Doctor Who Christmas Special. We get a first peek at the ice lady that we mentioned here in August. We also mentioned rumours that this ice lady may kill Clara! (we also see the ice lady hitting some sort of force field and then exploding towards the end of the trailer) We also get a sneak peek at the stairs leading up to the TARDIS which we can assume is waiting in the clouds (based on the doctor walking on some).

You can see the new trailer below and some of the more interesting screencaps:
